Dream Inn Returns
Joie de Vivre Hotels consistently strives to create boutique hotels that reflect the local community and can be endorsed by, and even boasted about, by locals. The name of a hotel is one piece, though a prominent one, in establishing a hotel’s concept.
A legendary hotel in Santa Cruz – the Coast Santa Cruz Hotel – offered what seemed both an opportunity and an obstacle in meeting this goal. When Joie de Vivre’s creative team learned they could not retain the locally favored, original name of the hotel, “Dream Inn”, due to copyright issues, they embarked on a campaign to encourage name submissions. Contest participants were encouraged to suggest names that would reflect Santa Cruz, a hotel that would undergo an extensive renovation and be unveiled in Summer of 2008 as the only luxury beachfront hotel in Santa Cruz.
February 21, 2008 - a banner is unveiled at the hotel site announcing a new website, “Keepdreaminn.com” that celebrates the movement to retain the original name of the hotel and keeps all interested locals, past guests and future guests current on further developments during the renovation. The website will also include photos of the hotel and news about the restaurant.
